You are about to embark on an extraordinary adventure.  The coming summer will be an exciting, rewarding experience that is sure to challenge you.  Before you accept the responsibility and honor of working in Montpellier and representing the city of Louisville, it is important that you understand what this unique opportunity entails.  This program is designed for the adaptable, independent, open-minded person who possesses a solid background in French.  It is not an academic program, nor a tour package.  It is an opportunity to experience living and working in France in a way that few foreigners may.

The capital of Languedoc Roussillon, Montpellier is a one-thousand-year-old city teeming with life.  Despite its relatively modest size, it has transformed itself in recent years into one of France's foremost centers of research, medicine, and technology.  It has also gained a reputation for its lively cultural scene, which includes top-notch theater, music, and dance performances.  It is a cosmopolitan city that has managed to retain a certain small-town charm, much like Louisville.  One of the greatest pleasures awaiting you in Montpellier is the joy of wandering through the narrow, winding streets of centre-ville filled with cafés and restaurants.
